Teaching and training

For some years, I’ve been involved in teaching and training mediators and other ADR professionals. I’m a competence assessor for the Family Mediation Council, and was involved in developing the current professional standards and self-regulatory framework, the basis of family mediator accreditation. I’m also Professional Practice Consultant to a number of lawyer-led family mediation providers, who offer both legally-aided and private mediation.

I currently teach at the Law School, University of Strathclyde, on the LLM/MSc Mediation and Conflict Resolution course. I’m also privileged to be the current external examiner for the University’s Mediation and Mediation Advocacy elective, Diploma In Professional Legal Practice (DPLP)

I’ve previously worked at the Institute of Family Therapy, in partnership with Birkbeck College, University of London, where I taught MSc and postgraduate certificate courses in mediation and ADR. My teaching work has also taken me into the NHS, where I’ve provided courses for medical staff, and I’ve run numerous international workshops on conflict resolution.

Alongside Greg Rooney and Margaret Ross, I facilitate annual mediation workshops in Tuscany, which are open to people from all around the world. I also run bespoke workshops and post-Accreditation training courses – please get in touch for an informal discussion if you’re interested in running an event.
